Jo studied A Level Drama at the College in the 1990s. She now plays "Tanya Branning" in Eastenders and was rewarded for her role at the British Soap Awards in 1998. Jo has also appeared in a number of other programmes, including Clocking Off, North & South and No Angels. In 2006, Jo also won a Rose d'Or International Award for best female comedy performance in Channel 5's Swinging.

 Jo is also starring in BBC One's Candy Cabs, playing Jayne.

 

 

 

 

 

Jo returned to the College on Thursday 23^rd September 2010 to spend a day meeting with staff and students. In the morning she visited some vocational and A Level Performing Arts classes and in the afternoon she participated in a very special enrichment activity: An Audience with… Jo Joyner. Jo talked to over 200 students about her life as a student at Stratford-upon-Avon College, her training, how her career as an actor started and her breakthrough into television. She provided many insights into the world of professional theatre and television and also told us about her new BBC show Candy Cabs which will be broadcast soon.

Edward Pinner, Curriculum Area Manager for Performing Arts and Music taught Jo as a student at the College and is delighted that she found the time to visit.“ Jo is an ideal role model for our students who have an ambition to enter the professional performing arts industry. Her successful career has come about through hard work, perseverance and dedication. Although she is now ‘someone off the telly’ and a ‘celebrity’, she has not let that change her approach to life. Jo always was, and I am glad to say still is, an open, friendly, articulate woman who is appreciative of the opportunities that have come her way and has made the most of every one of them. A role model indeed”.

Jo recently won 'Best Dramatic Performance' and 'Best On Screen Partnership' (alongside Jake Wood) at the British Soap Awards 2012.
