JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE :   Part Time Lecturer in Broadcast Media

Temporary until  13th July 2012 - Approximately 17 hours per week.

SALARY SCALE :  Points 19 to 37 on the College Payscale

DATE :  January 2012

PURPOSE OF POST

Provide high-quality teaching, to create effective opportunities for learning and to enable all learners to achieve to the best of their ability.

GENERIC RESPONSIBILITIES

All colleagues employed directly in connection with the teaching and learning experiences of students are expected to meet the standards for teaching and support of learning in further education. All staff are expected to support the College’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

COLLEGE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the generic responsibilities referred to above, all colleagues employed directly in connection with the teaching and learning experiences of students at Stratford upon Avon College are expected to undertake the following College related responsibilities.

 Flexibility

Act as personal tutor to a group or groups of students.

 Curriculum Development

Contribute to curriculum development.

 Marketing

Assist with the recruitment, admission and enrolment of students and the 

marketing of courses in particular, and the College, in general.

Participate fully in undertaking all aspects of the College’s Quality Assurance systems.

HOURS OF WORK

The postholder will be required to work approximately 17 hours per week per week as agreed and identified on the postholder’s timetable for the relevant academic year.

NOTE:

The following specific Job Role Duties are current as at the date shown above. These duties will be reviewed, normally annually, and, in consultation with the postholder, the College reserves the right to make such changes as deemed necessary and appropriate in support of effective and efficient operational requirements.

DUTIES:

The postholder will be required to deliver on the following courses: (NB: This is not an exhaustive list and may change in support of the needs of the curriculum):

  • Teach a range of Media theory and Media production across a range of courses to include:   
  • BTEC First Diploma
  • BTEC National Diploma/Media and Multi-Media
  • AS Level and A2 Level Media/Film
  • HND in Media 
  •  SWIFT (14 – 16 year olds)
  • Teaching of digital recording and editing techniques including
  • Teaching audio/print and publishing

Undertake the role of Personal Tutor

3.    Appointments

At the conclusion of the interview process, candidates will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. At this point, it is hoped that any candidate who receives an offer of employment will be able to give an immediate verbal answer. Assuming acceptance, the College will confirm in writing the offer of appointment together with a provisional salary and start date.

5. Completion of a satisfactory 12 months probationary period.
