Frequently Asked Questions

How will the students develop employability skills?

Students will spend a significant portion of their weekly time in real work placements.

14-16

Students in Years 10 and 11 will participate in a minimum of four hours unpaid work experience each week.

16-19

Students in Years 12-13 (ages 16-19) will participate in at least two days paid employment a week.

This will ensure that all students develop the necessary employment skills to enter the world of work once they have completed their studies.

How many Students will attend the Studio School?

The Studio School will have 300 students aged 14-19 with approximately 75 students in each year: 

14-16

Year 10 (Age 14-15)

Year 11 (Age 15-16)

16-19

Year 12 (Age 16-17)

Year 13 (Age 17-18)

These year groups will then be sub-divided into separate classes. This will provide a small school environment in which every young person will be able to access the tailored support they need.

Will the students still be able to study for GCSEs?

Students will be taught the national curriculum and will undertake the key qualifications including GCSEs in Maths, English, Science and IT.

What else will the students study?

Students will also have the opportunity to study vocational options in a range of subject areas. These will be confirmed in agreement via consultation with employers and parents.
