Stratford-upon-Avon College Football Academy students won the British College Sports West Midlands Football League 2010/11 this month.
Students from the Football Academy will be presented with their trophy at a Presentation Evening at Stratford Town FC’s DCS Stadium in Stratford-upon-Avon on Thursday 26th May.
Mark Fogarty, Recruitment Manager for Coventry City FC launched Stratford-upon-Avon College’s Football Academy at Stratford Town Football Club in January 2010.
He commented, “This is a fantastic achievement in what is our very first year in the league. The students have bought into a playing style and become the only college team in the country to win every game. A great team effort.”
The Football Academy, run in conjunction with Coventry City Football Club’s Academy and Stratford Town Football Club, recruits quality football players, both male and female, who are playing at a good level and want to progress further in both their football careers and in sports education. It is run at Stratford Town FC’s fantastic new facility at the DCS Stadium in Tiddington and the coaching and teaching is from UEFA qualified staff.
The Academy currently offers an apprenticeship in year one comprising of a Level 2 NVQ in Sport and Allied Occupations: Coaching, Teaching and Instructing (Association Football) and a Technical Certificate in Leisure Industry Awareness, Functional Skills and other learner responsive qualifications. Places in the Academy are offered following an interview and trial.
The Football Academy is running a free two day course during half term giving young people the opportunity to experience life at the Academy. The course takes place at the DCS Stadium on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd June. Places are limited so booking is essential. Please contact Dave Carter on 01789 266245 for more information.
