French Students Experience Life in Stratford-upon-Avon

Frenchstudentsvisit2010

Stratford-upon-Avon College and QHotels welcomed students from a school in France this month.

Eighteen students from Ecole de Hoteliere du Perigord in Boulazac in the Dordogne visited Stratford-upon-Avon College and Stratford-upon-Avon for a three day visit on the 9th March. The students, currently studying professional catering and hospitality in France, spent a day working within the college’s training restaurant and kitchens. Local hotels in the area were experienced by the students as they visited The Stratford, Stratford Manor and Chesford Grange. Finally, the students received a flavour of Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon by visiting local attractions as well as a tour of the Mercure Shakespeare Hotel and the Holiday Inn.

This visit was organised by Stratford-upon-Avon College with two students, Marina Jourdain and Etienne Paoli, organising the trips to the Shakespeare Hotel and Holiday Inn. Marina and Etienne are currently studying on the Foundation Degree in Hospitality Management and previously studied at the school in Boulazac.

Hilary Allen, Programme Area Manager, commented, “We were delighted to welcome the students from Ecole Hoteliere du Perigord. We have now been working with this French hospitality school for six years. The students had the opportunity to experience a different hospitality environment as well as make new friends and practice their English.

“I would like to thank the students and staff from Boulazac, QHotels and students and staff from the college for making this visit such a success. We look forward to welcoming more students from Boulazac again next year.”
