Stratford-upon-Avon College is one of a few further education colleges in England delivering this innovative Foundation Degree in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard and Thames Valley University in March 2010.
The Foundation Degree in Computer Systems Management FdSc (with HP Certified Professional) is a unique part-time course that is aimed specifically at people already in work or those wanting to embark on a career change. It allows students to achieve both the academic and practical skills necessary in the world of computing and business and also gain, at no extra cost, a series of industry recognised HP certifications that can immediately enhance their future career prospects. The course has two intakes each year, one in March and one in October.
Ushma Mulji, Programme Area Manager, commented. “This course is a great opportunity for students to work with such a major company from the IT industry. Hewlett-Packard and Thames Valley University developed the course to ensure that students gain a unique and valuable qualification that will enhance their career opportunities. Students also gain a series of highly sought after professional qualifications which would normally have cost them up to £10,000 if they had studied them independently.”
As with all foundation degrees, the course takes two years to complete and technical subjects studied will include Software Development (an introduction to programming), An Introduction to the Internet, Web Site Development and Database Design using international standard Oracle.
