The Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon, Councillor Mrs Shelagh Sandle, joined governors and staff of Stratford-upon-Avon College and City College Coventry last night, in welcoming two hundred and fifty new international students.

The Heart of England International Academy’s Welcome Reception at the Civic Hall in Stratford-upon-Avon is part of a week-long orientation programme, which includes visits to a number of local and national attractions. The event provided the opportunity for students to meet staff from both Colleges and partner Universities in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to a special welcome by the Mayor, speeches were also made by Martin Penny, Principal of Stratford-upon-Avon College and Carrie Smith, Vice Principal, Commercial Development of City College Coventry.

Martin Penny commenting on the success of the event said, “This has been a highly successful annual event for Stratford-upon-Avon College. It was once again a pleasure to welcome so many students from across the world. Our international students have been excited by their orientation into the cultural pleasures and community life of Coventry & Warwickshire and the Mayor of Stratford made them all feel extremely welcome”.

The Heart of England International Academy is a collaborative working partnership between Stratford-upon-Avon College and City College Coventry. In forming this academy, we are able to combine our experience and commitment in order to provide an impressive portfolio of courses and enhanced student guidance and support.
