New Art Gallery at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Stratford-upon-Avon College recently launched its new art gallery in its café restaurant, the Brazz.

Known as The Brazz Gallery, students and local artists will have the opportunity to display a variety of 2D artwork in a contemporary setting. The Brazz Gallery is open to the public for food, service and art on Mondays to Thursdays 10am until 7pm and Fridays from 10am until 1.30pm. It will also be open by appointment with the artist on Saturday mornings and during half term holidays.

Wendy Freeman, lecturer at the College, said, “Established and emerging artists within our community will have the advantage of using this contemporary setting for promoting painting, textiles, drawing, prints, photography and mixed media in a friendly atmosphere whilst enjoying some food. ‘On the Wall’ is a reserved corner of the venue for our college students to use.”

The current ‘artist in residence’ is Sara Huxley-Edwards who exhibits in Galleries in the UK and Sweden and has shown at Art in Action, Oxford and the Affordable Art Fairs, London. Sara commented, “My work is primarily concerned with colour and texture. I produce paintings and collages, often large scale and predominantly mixed media which I enjoy experimenting with, building up layers then taking most of them out again.” For more information visit www.sarahuxleyedwards.com|
