Stratford-upon-Avon Students Become Media Entrepreneurs

StratcastFringe

Media students from Stratford were given the chance to show off their skills and progress their own company by being chosen to film live online coverage of the Stratford Fringe Festival.

Sam Molloy, Katie Ulett, Wayne Bartlet, Sophie Blout and Matt Thomas part of Stratcast, were invited by event sponsor Marston’s EPA to provide non-stop video, broadcast and online coverage of the festival.

Wayne, who helped launch Stratcast a year ago said: “We all studied creative media production and we didn’t want to stop there – so we all got together and launched Stratcast, and the next thing we knew we were the official film, radio and TV crew for the fringe!

“It’s been an amazing nine days and we are very grateful to Marston’s EPA for giving us the platform to show what Stratcast is about.”

Stratcast also supported the People’s Choice Award - which was given to local singer songwriter Andrew James.

Rachel Whillock, who helped get Stratcast onboard said: “The Stratford Fringe Festival was all about talent in the town, it was all about getting people to show what they can do so it was important for us to keep this as the focal point of the fringe - which is why we wanted to support this wonderful entrepreneurial group.”
