Stratford Lecturer is Classic Rock Critics' Choice!

A music lecturer from Stratford-upon-Avon College was honoured to find one of his original songs in the renowned Classic Rock magazine ‘Critics’ Choice Songs of 2010’ last month.

James Maiden, Programme Area Co-ordinator for Music, co-wrote the song, Just Like a Woman, which has been performed by rising rock band ‘Black Spiders’ internationally over the past year on high profile tours and on the biggest stages including the Ozzy Osbourne concert at the Roundhouse, Ozzfest at the O2 Arena and at the annual Download and Sonisphere Festivals at Donington Park and Knebworth respectively.

James co-wrote the song with Peter Spiby, vocalist and guitarist with the band and has become a staple part of their set list over the last twelve months.

James was even more excited to find the new ‘Black Spiders’ album Sons of the North, which features two of James’ co-written songs, riding high at number five in the national rock album charts having been released just last week. James’ relationship with the Spiders goes back to 2008 when he was asked to contribute guitar parts and arrangements to the band’s first single St Peter.
