Students to take part in Photomarathon

Students from the Visual Arts Department at Stratford-upon-Avon College will be taking part in a ‘Photomarathon’ on Wednesday, 2nd February.

This one-day photographic competition was first launched by the College’s Principal, Martin Penny, in 2009. The students will be given four themes to respond to throughout the day; two in the morning and two in the afternoon. The students have a deadline of 4 pm by which to submit their entries.

There will be a winner and runner up in each category. The overall winner will then be chosen and will win £50 worth of Nova vouchers, kindly donated by Ian Windebank of The Imaging Warehouse. Judging will take place on 9th February and the winners will be announced on 16th February. An exhibition of the winning images will take place at the College in a few weeks’ time.

The judging panel consists of Martin Penny, Ian Windebank from the Imaging Warehouse and Susann Phair, a local studio and portrait photographer. Each of the judges has supplied one of the themes with the fourth theme supplied by the Visual Arts team.

Emma Lambert, Photography Lecturer and event organiser, said: “This is an exciting event that allows the students to use their spontaneity and creativity. It brings the whole of the Visual Arts staff and students together for a day of lively and energetic activity!”
