Learner Services
The Learner Services office is located on the ground floor at the centre of the college campus and includes both the Learner Services and Student Support teams. The Learning Advice Centre for people seeking part-time courses is also located in the Learner Services office.
Guidance and Admissions
For all matters to do with choosing and joining a course at the college, the Guidance and Admissions team is here to offer professional advice. But don’t take our word for it; here is what a recent applicant told us: “The admissions service is excellent. I have had many conversations with staff, tutors and students. They have really given me helpful advice on everything I need to know to make an informed choice.”
Your Own Personal Tutor
As a full-time student you will have a personal tutor who will work with you and support you. Our personal tutors are chosen for their experience in supporting students and helping them to achieve their best. One of our students expressed: “I have found every tutor for every subject overwhelmingly helpful – backing me all the way. My personal tutor has proved to be a great help in all aspects of my being here – thanks!” Another student agreed: “I am really pleased with my personal tutor; she is very approachable and professional”.
Tutorial
The college’s tutorial programme, which includes planning for work experience, improving study skills and exploring career options, is supported by Learner Services.
Additional Learning Support
During induction we assess the ability of all full-time students in Literacy and Numeracy. This screening is to ensure that you receive appropriate help in order to be successful in your agreed learning programme. IT screening occurs during your first IT lessons.
Progression
Whether you are planning to go on to employment or on to another course such as a foundation degree or degree programme at university or at the college, you will receive all the help you need in preparing for your future.
The College holds an annual Higher Education and Careers Evening with the aim to helping students progress in their education or go into employment. Contact us| for more information.
